The long summer days were precisely the opposite of what Lucretia had grown up living with. Even her summer days had been much cooler than this. She hated the heat, honestly, but at least there was plenty of food around. Her diet was limited to mostly to small rodents without a pack to hunt with, but she'd never been a particularly outstanding hunter to start with. Now that her belly was partially full though, she was crouched over a creek, drinking as though her life depended on it. Dust covered her thick white pelt, impossible to keep clean when she was on the move like she was.
As she lifted her head from the stream she simultaneously transformed back to her human form, wiping the water from her mouth with an arm, and panting softly. She could feel a mild sweat instantly wash over her skin. It wasn't a fantastic feeling, but it was better than the thick winter coat of her wolf form.
She looked around, eyes carefully examining her surroundings as the sudden feeling that she was not alone washed over her. She remained calm, but this environment was moderately unfamiliar to her and she knew she'd be at a disadvantage if she were attacked. Remaining calm, she began to move along, alert but calm. If she was fortunate, she'd run into more Lycians and find a pack that would take her in.
If she wasn't lucky, she could very well be in grave danger.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY
Zedekiah was indifferent to the seasons although he much preferred having snow on the ground then not. Like usually, the large male was in his wolf form which sported a a reddish coat and deep honey brown eyes. His paws, although large, made no sound as he walked on and like usual he was alone as he preferred to be when he patrolled, he saw no need to bring someone along despite his adopted father's warnings of the humans.
Zedekiah worried not of those creatures as to him, they were nothing but a nuisance that needed to be gotten rid of. He didn't challenge them but he refused to take any kind of grief from them because he couldn't trust them anymore than he could pick them up and throw them half way across the Atlantic Ocean.
Now, the male was moving silently through the brush when he caught scent of a freshly eaten meal.. It was a mouse, small catch. He paused and sniffed at the air curiously. There was another scent that was lingering in the air too, a wolf. His lips curled into the beginnings of a snarl but then fell as he noted it was a female and began to follow the scent and that was when he caught sight of the white wolf. Perking his ears forwards he watched her drink from the water and then go from her wolf form into her human form and he relaxed a bit more. They never really had to worry about humans coming into the woods but occasionally a wolf, just your every day one, would venture on to his territory and try and claim what didn't belong to it. He stood watching for a moment but his ears soon pinned to his head as he knew he had been detected, scolding himself inwardly he pushed himself out from his hiding place and revealed himself to the female. His honey brown eyes moving to rest on the female figure, his shoulders were relaxed and he showed no signs of being hostile and after a few seconds of staring at her, the male looked back and flattened his ears to his head but said nothing.

When meeting a wild wolf, there was two possible ways the situation would occur. Often, the wild wolf would just leave, when faced with a human. Wolves feared humans just like much of her own kind did, and for good reason. Humans hunted wolves to 'protect' themselves. Certainly in some instances they could be doing that but Lucretia doubted that was the instance in many cases. If the wolf did not leave, the other option was for it to attack. Fight or flight it was often called. As a lone girl in the woods, she could certainly look incredibly vulnerable to any wolf. This instance, however, was like neither of those possibilities, which led Lucretia to immediately recognize that she was facing no ordinary wolf. This was most certainly a Lycian like herself.
She met his honey brown look with her icy blue gaze. She looked him over much like he looked her over, each of them sizing each other up. He was relaxed, but most certainly experiencing some degree of discomfort, judging by the way his ears were pinned back against his head.
She had found more like herself, which was step one to joining a pack, but now Lucretia had to determine if this was a promising lead. She'd been disappointed more than once in her wanderings since leaving Canada. That was even assuming this mysterious Lycain even had a pack. She pushed a hand back through her platinum blonde hair, pulling a few loose strands out of her face to neaten her appearance a bit, but Lucretia's travels had left her looking moderately ragged. She had mostly been staying in the wild, as she had no means to survive among the humans.
"I'm sorry, if I'm intruding," Lucretia said, though the apology was more of a formality than an actual expression of guilt at being her. "Is this a pack territory?" There was a French Canadian accent in her voice, but her English was most certainly fluent. Where she had grown up, they'd learned English, but predominately spoken French. While she'd mostly spoken English in the past several years, that accent had never quite left her tone.

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY The reddish male smiled faintly before taking a step back into the shrubbery behind him and within a few moments he came back out in his human form. He wasn't particularly tall but he wasn't short either. He had short black hair that seemed well kept and despite his wolf form he wasn't all to muscular either or large for that matter.
He had a slender frame and a palish complexion and the only thing that seemed even remotely similar to his wolf form were his eyes. They were a gentle brown that danced excitedly. He wore black jeans and a long sleeved button up shirt that tucked into the waist band of his pants and a black neck tie, his feet were bare. "You aren't trespassing" he finally answered after another moment of watching her. His voice held no hostility as he spoke. "And even if you were I could tell you meant no harm, I only attack when it is necessary,"
His head tilted to the side as he let his eyes move from to the water behind her. "You were only a few short steps away from the border." he said with a nod. "But you need not worry. What's your name?" he asked as he crossed his arms over his chest "I'm Zedekiah Choi, the leader of the pack here."

Humans and wolves of course looked a lot different. No reasonable human being would reasonably mistake a human and a wolf. That said, when one was a Lycian, that difference became blurred to a degree. There were always hints in either of their appearances that hinted toward the other appearance. When the wolf standing opposite her stepped back into the bushed to transform, he came out with features she more or less would have expected, at least in the demeanor in which he held himself and the look in his eyes (and the color of them held similarity). She had learned to identify people more from those aspects than basic size and coloring standards. He was tall, but tall men were not so unusual in America, and as a human less muscular, though that applied to many Lycians. Overall, this form was less impressive perhaps than his wolf form, but she couldn't complain as she felt similar about her own appearance.
He assured her she was trespassing, and though that was to some degree welcomed she knew it likely wouldn't have mattered much if she was, appearing small and intimidating as she did. A fact of which he also assured her, though perhaps not reasoning it as she did. She glanced back at his gesture to the border on the other side of the creek. She had been dangerously close to being in danger indeed, if this powerful male wolf had been more hostile to outsiders. It was a situation she'd come across in her travels before. Finding a pack was hardly an easy task for anyone.
"Pack leader?" she repeated his words in a very calm and even tone, gaze moving back to him to move over him once again, more examining this time. He seemed powerful enough in wolf form, but thus far she hadn't noticed any particular...authority about him. No one just became a leader because they fell into it, though. There had to have been some way he'd eared the position. "You may call me Lucretia, or some form of the name. I'd prefer not to share my last name at the moment, however. I know better than to just trust another because he's a fellow moon-blooded. I've been burned that way before." TAGS: Choi WORDS: 374 NOTES: NONE

SEARCHING IN THE DARKNESS WE ARE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT RUNNING FROM THE DAY The male watched her carefully. His brown eyes never straying from her face. Shifting uncomfortably from foot to foot he cleared his throat and unfolded his arms before giving a slight bow. "I do not blame you for being careful nor will I ask any questions for the answers are not any of my business." Zedekiah said as he straightened his posture and looked at her closely once more before taking his eyes away to look towards the sky.
"It's best not to share important details with the likes of anyone, be it a fellow Lycan or human." his jaw seemed to tighten at the word 'human'. "Now a days, you cannot trust anyone to be kind and straight forward with another." he gave a soft sigh and shrugged his thin shoulders before looking back to her and offering a smile. "But I can assure you, I am not someone or thing to be feared.. Rather I prefer to be left in peace then be brought into the midst of trouble." the young male shifted from foot to foot once more then stepped back and bit down onto his lower lip. Despite him saying he would not ask any questions, it was obvious that he was curious of why the female was out here alone. It was then that the thought struck him and he glanced curiously around him, was she really alone or were there others around? He hadn't scented any other smells besides her's and the smells that naturally came to the forest such as the various wild life that roamed the grounds and all sorts of plants and herbs and even the earth itself carried a sweet, warm and welcoming smell.. But still the thought remained with him, could they have masked their scents? He returned his gaze to her and parted his lips to speak but only closed them andremained silent as if thinking.
After what seemed some time, the male finally spoke up. "I suppose I will ask one question, though it is nothing personal.. Are you in need of a place to stay? The pack's home isn't to far away and has many homes that are vacant so you will have peace and quiet." he reached up and rubbed his neck with a hand. "You are more than welcome to stay."

Her vagueness clearly put him off to a degree at least. It wasn't so unusual, to someone who didn't feel like they had to spend all their time hiding, like herself. Part of her felt bad for her intent to join a pack, knowing full well that she could be bringing danger their way, but a pack stood a chance against the demons of her past and on her own she could haldly claim that of herself. Perhaps her in reaching her.pursuers would even leave her be if they saw a challenge.
"Thank you for the offer," she said "I have to admit, I would be grateful for a safe place to stay, for the time being. And a chance to clean up a bit...I will accept." She gave him a slight smile that betrayed just how tired her journey from the far north had made her. Not necessarily as though she was about to fall asleep, but just as the worn feeling life had given her. "Perhaps once I have rested a bit, I will feel a bit more in the mood to share my story." There was a slight teasing noise to her last statement, though it could certainly be true. Though she always guarded herself, there was a certain amount she knew she would be willing to say.
